Twerk Hard and Earn a $50,000 College Scholarship Courtesy Of Juicy J

Study hard, get good grades, learn to twerk.
Your college counselor may have skipped that last one, but Juicy J didn’t. Last week, the Three 6 Mafia rapper tweeted that he was offering a $50,000 scholarship to “the best chick who can twerk.” However Juicy J wasn’t forthcoming on details on the scholarship, rules or qualifying twerk rounds and eventually deleted the tweet (Complex has a screenshot of it) leaving academically-minded twerkers to wonder if they would have to shelve their scholarship hopes. Others wondered if the tweet was a joke that went viral.
Juicy J followed through on his tweeted word, though. Yesterday, he announced that he has partnered with Worldstarhiphop.com to launch the “Juicy J Scholarship Foundation” competition. Inspired by the track “Scholarship” on his forthcoming album Stay Trippy, which came out on Tuesday, Juicy J is giving female fans an opportunity to win a $50,000 scholarship to their school. According to the press release the scholarship is “out of the kindness of his heart” and is open to all young women ages 18 (or age of majority in your state, whichever is higher) to 25, currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year accredited college or university.
To enter the competition, young adults must post YouTube videos set to Juicy J’s “Scholarship,” of course, explaining why they deserve the prize. Contestants will be judged on their assets and creativity, but according to the press release, grades are optional.
Juicy J’s debut album features collaborations with Justin Timberlake, A$AP Rocky, Chris Brown, Big Sean and more. The rapper is also featured on Katy Perry’s next single “Darkhorse,” which is due out Sept 17th.

in poltics: JERSEYYY STAND UP----->Christie, Booker keep big leads, while Republicans want governor for president

Gov. Chris Christie and Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Cory Booker are keeping large leads heading into this fall's elections, while New Jersey's Republican voters want to see Christie nab their party's nomination for president in 2016, according to a new poll.
The Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll, released this morning, shows Christie leading his Democratic opponent, state Sen. Barbara Buono, by 24 percentage points — 50 to 26 percent.
That, however, is a seven-point drop from the last PublicMind poll, in June. The results are similar to a poll released by Monmouth University earlier this month that showed Christie's lead falling by 10 points.
Meanwhile, Booker — the mayor of Newark — leads his Republican opponent, former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan, by 28 percentage points — 50 to 22 percent.
"Booker and Christie go into the fall with numbers that can only make them smile," Krista Jenkins, PublicMind's director and a professor of political science at Fairleigh Dickinson, said in a statement. "The hopeful sign for their opponents is the double digit numbers of people who remain 'unsure' about whom they intend to support in either election. For many, their preferences have not yet hardened."
The poll finds that Buono and Lonegan also lack in support from their own party. Forty-seven percent of Democrats favor Buono, with 29 percent — almost a third — backing Chrisite. Fifty-six percent of Republicans favor Lonegan, with 23 percent undecided, according to the poll.
"Cultivating greater support among their base would help Buono and Lonegan make up
ground. With Labor Day almost behind us and kids going back to school, we're entering the period of time when people begin to pay more attention to the choices that await them in October and November," Jenkins said. "There's likely to be more opportunities for connecting with voters, particularly those from the same party, in the coming weeks."
As for the 2016 presidential race, 51 percent of Republicans in New Jersey say they favor Christie for the GOP nomination, with U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky coming in a distant second with 10 percent, according to the poll.
Christie and Paul have gotten into a verbal sparring match in recent weeks over national security and federal aid. Experts say they represent a growing chasm in the national Republican party: between moderates like Christie and libertarians like Paul.
"The recent verbal exchange between Christie and Paul, two men considered strong candidates for the Republican nomination in 2016, highlighted considerable differences within the Republican party," Jenkins said. "Whether because of familiarity or other attributes, New Jersey Republicans would clearly rather see Christie as the nominee than Paul or other frequently mentioned possibilities."
The poll also found that 63 percent of Democrats in the state favor Hillary Clinton, the former U.S. Senator from New York and Secretary of State, to be their party's presidential nominee. Vice President Joe Biden was second with 10 percent, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo third with 6 percent, and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts fourth with 4 percent.

animal of the week : RAVENS

10 Amazing Facts about Ravens

1.The raven is the largest bird of the crow family: it is twice heavier than a common crow at 1.3 kg (3 pounds), being 60 cm (two feet) long, with a wingspan of almost 1 m (3.3 ft). Ravens can live 40 years in the wild and 70 in captivity.

2.Ravens can soar high above the trees, unlike crows, which rely on active flight. Ravens are capableof aerial stunts similar to those executed by the birds of prey.

3.Like in many other birds, when a raven is on a branch, the feet's muscles and tendons constrict automatically the toes, so that the birds waste little energy on this.

4.Ravens live from deserts to coniferous forests and coastal cliffs. In forests, they nest in stick-made nests on trees, on deserts in rock cavities.

5.They feed on fruits, seeds, nuts, fish, carrion, small animals, food remains and garbage. They even dig on snow to inspect plastic bags with waste. They also follow for days fishers and hunters. Ravens are known to steal the food of many birds and mammals, even from dogs. They can act in pairs: one individual captures dog's attention, while the other steals its food. They also
follow wolf packs for picking remains from their preys.

6.The Chinese, Egyptian, Greek, Semitic and Siberian legends depict the raven as a messenger of storms or bad weather. In African, Asian and European legends, the raven forecasts death. Shakespeare presents ravens as messengers or exponents of evil (like in "Julius Caesar", "Macbeth" and "Othello"), while in "Titus Andronicus" they are described as benefactors feeding abandoned children. In his poem "The Raven", Edgar Allan Poe associates this bird with lost love and despair.

7.Raven's calls can express tenderness, happiness, surprise, emotion or rage. Ravens can imitate birds with the same vocal note, mimicking perfectly the crows. The penetrating loud croak signals that something has disturbed the raven. Some say they can be even taught to learn the human speech.

8.Ravens are considered the most intelligent birds, displaying high learning ability and use of logic for solving problems, in some tests bypassing the chimpanzees. In one experiment, a raven had to reach a piece of meat dangling from strings bound to perches. To get to the food, a raven had to follow a series of actions: pull up a string stretch, hold a loop of it on the perch with a claw, then pull up another stretch and hold that loop. The birds had to repeat the action 6 times till getting the meat, while even after 30 trial crows did not succeed.

Ravens could perform this complex sequence of actions straight away and they have never seen string before or encountered meat hanging this way. These birds pass very well complex tests, including "no tests" or "trial and error" ones that involve logic.

Ravens put other animals to do tasks for them. Their beak cannot open tough skins of the carcasses, that's why when they encounter a big corpse, they make calls that attract wolves and foxes to the site and the large carnivores can break the carcass to expose the meat for the birds.

The raven's developed intelligence is connected to their complex social lives and scavenging lifestyles. The birds must find out very rapidly how to locate themselves far enough from a wolf or fox not to be exposed to an attack when sharing a dead animal but close enough to get food.

Ravens have been even taught to count.

9.Due to their intelligence, ravens are very playful. They prank with the wolves. Once a raven headed towards a sleeping wolf and pinched it by its tail. When the wolf dashed to bite the raven, the bird jumped out. When the wolf approached tiptoe to the raven, the bird let it approach till 30 cm and flew away, landing a few meters of the wolf's back and repeating the prank.

Another raven played with wolf cubs. When the cubs had enough of playing, the raven croaked till they started playing again. In Yellowknife (northwestern Canada) ravens perched on the roofs of supermarkets waited for people to pass so that they could push snow on them.

10.Ravens like to drug themselves. They practice myrmecomany (from Old Greek "myrmex" ant, "mania" obsession). The bird sits on the soil or on an ant nest, opens its wings stretched forward, while it curbs its tail toward its belly. In the first step, the bird lets itself be invaded by angry ants and sometimes it picks ants one by one, squashing them a little bit, to introduce them inside the plumage.

Once fully covered by insects, the bird starts executing some bizarre contortions, coiled movements and spins of the body, keeping the head always risen, the feathers extended and saliva over the bill, with an absolutely delighted face. This step lasts roughly 30 minutes. After that, the bird shakes itself to get rid of the ants.

Asked if he's gay, Booker says: 'So what does it matter if I am?'

It's a question he has been asked in the past, but this time it came amid a campaign for the U.S Senate.
In a profile that appeared in the Washington Post on Monday, Newark Mayor Cory Booker was asked about the persistent rumor that he is gay.
"People who think I'm gay, some part of me thinks it's wonderful," Booker told the interviewer, "because I want to challenge people on their homophobia. I love seeing on Twitter when someone says I'm gay, and I say, 'So what does it matter if I am? So be it.'"
When asked about the interview by The Star-Ledger today, Booker said it was his plan to stick to the major issues in his race against former Mayor Steve Lonegan of Bogota, a Republican, and that sexual preference should not be an issue when voters go to the polls on Oct. 16.
"I don’t intend to answer," said Booker, who was returning from Washington after attending a meeting with President Obama on gun violence. "It should not matter. That was my point."
Lonegan said in a telephone interview that he's not concerned about Booker’s sexuality.
cory-booker-decent.JPGNewark Mayor Cory Booker said he isn't bothered by questions about his sexual orientation.
"I don’t really care about this guy’s lifestyle," he said. "I care about his failed record in Newark."
He added, "He’s too liberal for New Jersey and he wants to bring his failed policies to the federal level."
As early as 10 years ago, when Booker was trying to unseat Mayor Sharpe James in 2002, allies of James spread the word that the Booker was gay.
It was not the last time the issue would come up.
When talk of his sexuality emerged last year as he considered challenging Gov. Chris Christie, Booker again denied the loose talk. And when a phony Facebook page in Booker’s name declared that he had come out of the closet, a staff member said he "likes the ladies."
Even in 2006, when he was about to assume the mayoral office, a voter asked Booker about the rumor. He again denied it, but declined to go any further. He said today that answering the question was tantamount to judging someone’s abilities based on faith or race.
"We need to understand that race, religion, sexual orientation, all of these things are not germane to a person’s ability to lead the state of New Jersey," Booker said.
Although Booker maintains a close relationship with Christie, a Republican, he has been publicly critical of the governor’s conservative stance on the issue of same-sex marriage.
Indeed, when Christie proposed putting the issue on a referendum for voters to decide, Booker bristled.
"I shudder to think what would have happened if the civil rights gains, heroically established by courageous lawmakers in the 1960s, were instead conveniently left up to popular votes in our 50 states," the mayor said.
Over the years, the 44-year-old Booker has attracted attention because of his friendships and public appearances with such women as Gayle King and Arianna Huffington — and even a recent campaign appearance with Eva Longoria. But he has consistently denied his involvement in any long-term relationships.
The way he sees it, the issue is not something that voters are overly concerned about.
"Here I am a candidate in a statewide election and ... what people talk about with me is my ideas, my vision, my ability to get things done," he said. "That’s what the campaign will continue to do."

Twerking: A Scientific Explanation

Twerking is such a complex, technical subject, only a Ph.D. researcher can explain how the body does what it does to make it happen.
Twerking is a combination movement involving a deep squat and a pelvic tilt, Michelle Olson, a professor of exercise science and a certified strength and conditioning coach at Auburn University in Montgomery, Ala., explained.
“You take a wide stance with your legs turned out at 10 and 2 so your hips are externally rotated,” she said. “Then you pulse up and down as you thrust the pelvis bone forward and back.”
Olson said the booty dancing move is a good “twerkout” for your butt and thighs. It also works the deep muscles of the hips and the core muscles of the lower back and abdominals. She said it will definitely shape and strengthen all those muscles as well as give them the stamina to do activities important to most people heavily involved in twerking like say, picking up a screaming child off the floor.
However, over-twerking might throw out the lower back or make the knees creak, Olson cautioned.
Translation? If you’re over 25, twerking may not be for you.

1. JORDAN 7

The Air Jordan VII was released in 1992 with a new design by Tinker Hatfield. This shoe introduced the huarache technology which allowed the shoes to better conform to the user's foot. A few things were no longer featured on the new model, such as the visible air sole, the Nike Air logo, and the yellowing soles. This was the first Air-Jordan in the line that did not have any distinctive "Nike Air" on the outer portions of the shoe. The "Nike Air" can be found on the in-soles. The VIIs were also known for a successful ad campaign in which Buggs Bunny appeared alongside Michael Jordan in an ad campaign to market the shoes.
When Jordan went to compete at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics to play for the US Men's Basketball Team (also known as the "Dream Team"), Nike released a special Olympic color combo of the Air Jordan VII model which had Jordan's Olympic jersey number, 9 even though most of the jordans that were made, especially the Air Jordan VII had a "23" on the back.
Various models of the Air Jordan VII were re-released in 2002, again in 2004, and again with different colors in 2006. Also in 2008 Nike released a black and blue pair owned only by Cheikh Mbacké, ordered for $600.[11]
In 2011 the Air Jordan VII saw releases in the "Orion" and "Bordeaux" colorways. Other colorways are confirmed for a 2011 release as well, such as the "Cardinals" which is a re-release and "Year of the Rabbits". The "Olympic" and "Charcoal" (commonly referred to as Raptors) were re-released in 2012.
The Air Jordan VII was originally released in 1992. It was retroed in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
